Why you don’t need to join John Chow’s Agloco network

John Chow announced on July 16 that he’d hit 21,000 Agloco referrals. That’s great, John, but couldn’t you have left some for us? He’s got most of the blogosphere locked down and convinced that Agloco will be a top money spinner. It probably will be… for him.

I, however, have no faith in the Agloco product. If I were to sit here and tell you to join my Agloco network, I may as well tell you to buy shares in Enron.

While I have no doubt that John Chow will make money from Agloco, I don’t think many other people will. More to the point, look at who Agloco are and what they’ve done in the past few months, and then tell me that you trust these guys will make you anything at all. I had the viewbar installed and I have already got rid of it.

  • The Agloco Viewbar took six months to launch: What were they doing for six months? The end product is redundant junk. It doesn’t do anything useful, has no functionality and is just plain ugly. It was delayed countless times and for what? A search bar.
  • It freezes: I’ve been using the bar and its solitary function and had it freeze on me every time. Six months guys. Your product doesn’t even work.
  • The Agloco website is unstable: I lost count of the number of times I’ve tried to log onto the website only to find out that it’s down. They weren’t even prepared for the launch of their own product!
  • It works with text links: The links on the viewbar aren’t even pretty banners – they’re ugly text links, and what’s more, the links in the left-hand bar seem to dance around and don’t inspire anybody to click on them. Those are what’s going to make Agloco money?
  • The viewbar wastes space: If you have it installed you have to suffer a loss of space on your monitor. If you have a laptop, you’ll want to kill the thing pretty quickly. Shame they didn’t add a feature that hides the viewbar when you navigate away from your browser.
  • Are you sure we’re going to make money from this?: Even John Chow says that each hour you surf could only be worth about 15 cents. That means you could personally earn 75 cents a month. John Chow’s 21,000 might make him about $850, which is still not a lot considering he is the number one player in the game. And add the facts that Agloco doesn’t have enough advertisers and will likely pay quarterly and you’ve got a product looking ready to fail.

John Chow says that Agloco are working on “improving their viewbar” and “attracting advertisers”. So what have they been doing for the past six month plus!? Do you people really have faith in Agloco? Come on now!
