What’s your blogging schedule?
After reading about The Pro’s and The Cow’s blogging schedules, I started thinking about what my blogging schedule is. Schedule – that’s a funny word. It’s not something I’ve really learned to associate with blogging. My life runs in such a way that a definitive blogging schedule is almost impossible. Here’s my blogging schedule. Is it similar to yours?
Busy boy
During the week, I wake up at about 8 am, check my emails, look at Chow, Cow and Quests and then go to work for 9 am. While I’m in the office I can check my emails and sometimes write a short blog post during my lunch break or if we’re waiting for news to come in. I’m in the office until at least 6 pm, often until 8 pm and sometimes even later. During the day I’ll be thinking of what to blog about for that day.
After work I tend to either meet friends and have dinner or go home and take a nap. I can then start blogging. I normally log on to the net some time after 9 pm. I trawl the blogs for useful info, see if there’s any gossip of note, browse the Digital Point forums and write my daily post. I’ll do this interspersed with periods of chatting, emailing friends, watching anime, reading books and napping.
I can then sleep at about 2 am and wait for it all to begin again. This is all under the assumption that I don’t have some prior engagement, like a hot date or an interview with someone who wasn’t available during the day. Sometimes I also go out and party, like last night, which throws a real spanner into the works.
As I live in Thailand, I’m also faced with some days when the Internet just stops working. Youtube is still blocked after a brief being of being unblocked, which means that I can’t see any of the videos bloggers post. Sucks.
On Saturdays I have to be at work at 9 am and I typically get off about 12.30 pm. I then take a nap, have lunch, try and write a blog post and go out for whatever it is I have planned for that day – usually a trip to the beach, or catching a movie, or else attending some press party where I can eat and drink for free and pretend to mingle with well-to-do types.
Sunday is my only free day. I try and read and comment on blogs in the morning before going out in the afternoon. At night I’ll think about what I want to blog about over the coming week and contemplate setting up blogs on the two domains I currently have sitting vacantly in cyberspace. If it all gets too much then I just take a nap or watch BBC World.
So what’s your blogging schedule? Are you dedicated enough to stick to it religiously? I suppose that because I have no desire to aim toward a work-from-home lifestyle I don’t want to organize my life around my blogging, but rather the other way round. Is it still possible to make money doing so? We’ll have to see.

Digg it for goodness sake! Stumble your heart out!

I’ve read everywhere that readers like consistency. I suck at consistency because I’m a moody blogger, and I blog when inspiration strikes. Sometimes that’s 5 times a day, and sometimes that’s once a week. Naturally, during the school year, I blog a lot less because I’m busy all day and my brain is fried from dealing with 16 year-olds. Anyway, I loved your suggestion a while back to schedule posts in Wordpress. I am going to try this so that I can at least maintain a front of consistency. We’ll see:)
