John Chow puts an end to the ad flipping for money craze

I discussed people flipping ads on John Chow’s site a couple of days ago and suggested the whole thing was becoming stale already. Now it looks like the man himself has had enough of people making money off his ads and John has put an end to ad flipping.

From his blog today:

I am putting an end to the ad flipping. Do not purchase an ad if you intend to flip it. I will not change the ad once it’s up. The first few flips were interesting but now it’s getting out of hand. I expect to have all ten slots filled within the next few hours. If you want one, better order it now.

I think this is a good move because there is only so far people can go with ad flipping. Let’s face it, people aren’t going to be able to do anything new with it and if things go on like this, outside advertisers could eventually have a stronghold on John’s own ad blocks. People could potentially continue buying up free ad spots and sell them on. That’s the way it was going.

This isn’t the same as targeting a blog with Adsense ads because this is done directly for profit. Things should start calming down now with all the ad mandness on JohnChow.com

  1. John is doing a very wise thing, also coming for new ideas for profit from the blog, the experience background and the actitude of never staying too much in the comfort zone its a winner !!

  2. I think this is a good move because there is only few people can go with ad flipping. This is an opportunity to make money on-line. I think this article is going to help me to make money online.
