All these people are doing is using a software program that essentially spams directories and search engines. You could probably download a similar software package for free or buy one very cheaply, but most of the submissions will get automatically rejected and the ones that do get accepted are probably from sites that you don't want a link from anyways ;-). There are only so many good directories out there...
