Don’t expect money from blogging to come to you

Today wasn’t an especially productive day in terms of blogging, but I picked up a cool $60 for doing nothing. It’s little to get excited over, and I’m sure not making thousands of dollar in my sleep like other bloggers, but for the amount of work put in, the potential is there to exploit this method of earning money further. I’m happy with how things went.

All I did today was sell a dozen links in posts across a number of blogs. I sold in-content links for $5 each. Two of the blogs I sold on are less than two months old. This once again proves that there is money to be had blogging by anyone. All you have to do is go and find it.

I sold all the links today to one guy I found on Digital Point. The disruption to my blogs was minimal, it took 10 minutes to implement, and this is an avenue I will be exploring more in the future.

I’m starting to find it frustrating when bloggers post up their monthly earnings and the totals come to miniscule figures (one blog I read today posted up a loss!). There are so many ways of driving money to your blogs, but the key is to be pushing more than one blog around. This increases your potential for earning exponentially. With a few other inquiries about text links that I’ll deal with tomorrow, this week’s earnings could reach a tidy sum.

If you want to make money blogging, then be active and go after the money. Don’t expect it to come to you in the form of Adsense or PPC schemes. If you aren’t writing paid posts or selling links or ad space then you’ll have a hard time generating any income.

  1. good job.. keep up the good work.

  2. @ If you aren’t writing paid posts or selling links or ad space then you’ll have a hard time generating any income.

    - So true

  3. Do you put those links in new or existing articles? Do you make them look as any other “normal” links?

  4. Are you not afraid of diluting your page rank (and falling in google search results) by promoting too many links? In the long term you may suffer from a backlash if you abuse of such links.

  5. Well, the links are in content and they go out to relevant landing pages for the anchor text. I don’t see how Google could distinguish between those and any other outgoing links in a post. I could be wrong though.

  6. I still feel like I’m missing some part of the equation. Maybe it’s that my blog is “all over the place” in terms of content? I’ve made several tries with different blogs and websites but it has never amounted to a bank deposit. How many different blogs / sites are you running at once? Each one is for a specific topic?

  7. I think this is a great idea. I definitely don’t push for money enough. And with my blog, I should be making more than I do. Not tons, but definitely more. Maybe I’ll follow your example and get to work. :)

By the way, I changed your link in my recommended sites area. Don’t worry, it was no trouble at all. If you need anything else done, just let me know!

  8. I have three active blogs, one blog that I’ve just outsourced all my content for, two free blogs I maintain sometimes, and one personal journal for paid posting.

And Krzysztof Lis, the links just go in existing articles. They are normal links.

  9. That’s awesome. My experience with trying to sell links on DP has been horrible :( It’s hard for me to get anyone to buy text-links. But then again…selling in text ones may be easier, which I haven’t tried before.

What pagerank and how much traffic do your other blogs receive?

  10. Angel, thanks for answering my question. Do you know whether people want to buy your link because of their SEO-power or just because your blogs are received as reliable information sources?

  11. It’s all for SERPs. It’s for the benefit of the anchor text that links to a site, which Google sees and follows. If you buy enough of a certain keyword and Google sees that keyword linking to your site, it increases the chances of your site coming up when people search for that keyword.
