The craziest make-money idea in blogging history

Sometimes ideas pop up that make you think, “Wow, that’s a crazy idea, but it might just work.” Take the Million Dollar Wiki, for example. That’s one heck of a crazy idea, as was the Million Dollar Homepage. In the latter case, it worked! What type of substance must somebody have been abusing to come up with Blogging: the Movie.

I commend Prija Phaphouampheng’s vision and determination because he’s trying something that is totally out there. He’s gone beyond what most bloggers would do and moved into uncertain waters. He’s taken a risk and, as pro bloggers say, those who make money online are those who take risks. I won’t bore you with the details of the project, because the big JC already wrote about it here.

I hope Prija’s idea pays off, but I’ve been trying to imagine what a movie like this will be like and who it will appeal to. It’s not exactly a hidden fact that people make money online, so it won’t work as an exposé. The actual process of blogging isn’t glamorous or particularly interesting, so this won’t appeal to to a broad range of people. And then there’s the blogger themselves. Who is going to want to watch a whole movie about bloggers?

There is a contest in which you can win a starring role in the movie, which would entails being followed around by a video crew. I was thinking of entering, but then I realized that if they wanted to film my blogging habits, the video crew would gain several hours of footage of a skinny white boy sat on his bed in his boxer shorts staring at a computer. Does that sound like fun? I certainly wouldn’t want to watch footage of me blogging.

The only thing from the Internet I would like to watch in a movie is how people deal with flame wars. Picture the scene: you get footage of two people engaged in some sort of flame war, either in the comments section of a blog or on a forum. Each person would be alone in their room, and you could watch them stew in their anger as they punch the buttons on the keyboard and then scream at the monitor as the other person replies.

Now that is an idea folks. Who’s willing to sponsor me $100 to turn that into a movie. Flame Wars. There’s serious potential for sequels there.

  1. Well lets imagine meeting bloggers who made their worth. What kind of life style they live. Find out the inside tactics of pro bloggers with the dichotomy of newbie bloggers. Or what if there was bloggers like Hypebeast or Perez Hilton, or famous journalist bloggers.

I want showcase that blogging is change the way we consume information. It is about the masses. I want to also film affiliate programs, maybe wordpress, maybe BLOGSPOT executives, maybe xanga executive, maybe your link worth sponsor.

College journalist professors with their take.

So far I have raised 2k of the 50k and its rising everyday.

Which businesses catered towards blogs wouldn’t want to be filmed.??? Who will be left in the dust. B/C if this film is successful, it will forever brand all participates with BLOGGING.

  2. $2,000? That’s cool. Looks like this thing is starting to take off for you. Honestly, I want it work, cos it’s just such a wacky idea. And I’d rather see this be a success than the Million Dollar Wiki.

If you want some info about how blogging changes the way we gather info, I can help. In Thailand, bloggers are actually looked upon as sources of news. We’ve had some major events here recently (coups, bombs, attacks, etc) and the blogs were the primary source of info. I should know, cos I was out there taking pics and live blogging from the scene.
