You won’t make money blogging by wasting your time
This week, I decided to take a step back from blogging like a maniac and get my priorities straight. I was trying to blog on eight blogs at the same time. Obviously this was never going to work. So I’m selling the blogs that I started and have no time to keep updating.
I’m already starting to see some profit because there is clearly a market for setting up start-up blogs. People are often too lazy to start their own blogs. Even for low-traffic, low-income blogs, you can still make a profit.
I decided to concentrate all of my efforts on two or three blogs because by wasting my time on other blogs, I was taking time away from writing for guaranteed payments. I was in the ridiculous position of writing content for myself for nothing and putting off writing content for other people for money.
As of this week, I’m not going to waste my time starting multiple blogs. I was fooling myself into believing that the more blogs I started, the more money I was going to make. It doesn’t work like that unless you can 100% commit to blogging, which I can’t.
The lessons here are obvious: don’t take on more than you can handle and get your priorities in order or you will actually lose money.

Selling a blog seems a good idea. Tell me please, where do you post your blogs for sale? On ebay, some discussion forums, somewhere else?
How much profit did you make on the ones you sold. And how much time was invested. I would like to know.
Selling startup blogs seems to be popular lately. I saw a simple blog with the default WordPress theme go for $65 this week on eBay.
What a great idea – I’m currently setting up my blog and see how time and energy goes into it. I can imagine people would pay to have someone else do it for them.
And your wisdom of getting rid of the multiple blogs comes at a great time!
In terms of selling a blog, could you answer a few questions?
What kind of traffic do you need before you can sell a blog?
What is a fair price to expect to sell a blog for?
Where / Howwould you sell a blog?
The commenter above suggested $65 for a plain Wordpress blog, which I guess is fine if you haven’t actually posted anything or spent any time on the blog…
Thanks in advance for any input,
Chris
The blogs have no traffic. From what I’ve seen, a blog that’s three-months old with unique content and no traffic/PR can sell for at least $50 to $60. The profit margin isn’t huge unless you have a blog with PR and traffic.
Thing is, the blogs I’ve been selling are just dead weight, so any money is welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to share that extra information. I can see that if the blogs are just hanging around, then it could be worth it to sell them off for $50. Otherwise it probably isn’t a good business practice considering that you’ll be paying almost $50 for the hosting and domain rights.
